EMMANUEL HAS AN OUR DAILY BREAD DELIVERY scheduled for Sunday, July 20th. We would like to provide $60-$100 worth of food certificates to 33 "at risk" families in July instead of collecting groceries and making food deliveries. If you would like to help these families, please place a check (made out to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with an ODB designation) in the offering plate any Sunday before the 20th. Thank you for caring!

NEW HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OPPORTUNITY. Emmanuel has been invited to help build the Thrivent-sponsored house in St. Louis, Virginia (Loudoun County). This project is a typical Habitat project - single family, Habitat floorplan, in a small cluster of Habitat homes. Three of these homes have been completed and are now occupied on this site, near Banneker Elementary School. St. Louis is just past Leesburg - on Route 15, south of Purcellville. The work day typically begins at 8:30am and finishes around 3:30pm. Lunches are provided, and Habitat welcomes groups wishing to provide lunch. You can also visit the Loudoun Habitat for Humanity website for more information.

The class will begin on Tuesday, June 24th (7:00pm to 8:30pm) and will continue through early August. Friends are welcome! Sign up in the centrum or contact Kathy Uffelman for more information.

EVERY PIPE CONNECTED! After prayerfully considering many factors, including the condition of our existing Sanctuary organ, the $20,000 needed for its basic repairs, as well as the various worship services, concerts, and dramatic presentations that Emmanuel has come to love, a decision was made earlier this year to acquire a lightly used organ to preserve our musical heritage for years to come. The new organ was partially installed in mid-April, and is currently operating purely in a digital mode -- it has not yet been connected to our existing pipes. This is a situation we hope to correct soon! The instrument itself cost just less than $53,000, a sum that was funded by Emmanuel’s Memorial Gift Fund. But we need an additional $30,000 to finish connecting the instrument to our existing pipes. You can help us connect the pipes! To reach our goal of completing this special project, we invite you to donate $25 for each pipe you’d like to “connect”. Your contribution today will, quite literally, be music to your ears and the ears of all of Emmanuel for years to come. Need more information, and a donation form? PLAN NOW TO ATTEND THE FAMOUS PASSION PLAY IN GERMANY. Would you like to participate in a truly historical event? Since the year 1634, villagers in Oberammergau, Germany, have dramatized the last days of Christ's life, his death, and his resurrection in performing their famous, day-long Passion Play. The event has become so popular over the years that tickets are sold out long in advance...which is why, even though travel will not take place until 2010, reservations must be made now if you would like to attend. Pastors Beth and Randy Neubauer are planning to lead two separate tours in 2010. One is an eleven-day "Steps of Martin Luther" tour in July that includes the sites of the Reformation and romantic Germany. A second eleven-day trip in late September features the "splendors of Eastern Europe," including stops in Prague, Budapest, and Vienna. Brochures on both trips are available in the church office. Again, even though this travel is two years away, it is necessary this summer to reserve your spot for the Passion Play and to register for one of these two tours.

HOW WILL YOU RESPOND TO GOD'S BLESSINGS? Even a small contribution of effort can have a big impact! Emmanuel has many needs that change from week to week - everything from decorating for special events, to preparing meals for persons in need, to making coffee on Sunday mornings. The opportunities change weekly, so make sure and look for the flyer with your worship bulletin each Sunday morning. If you don't see it, just ask an usher. Need more info? Email Chris Moyer. In just a few minutes you can make a big difference!
